The Smartphones, Health, and RElationships study examines the role of technology in the lives and relationships of men who have sex with men (MSM) living in rural areas. Using a survey methodology with follow-up interviews, this research in progress explores how MSM use technology, their use of and attitudes towards dating apps, their health and risk behaviors, and their mental health. It also provides an in-depth exploration of the unique issues facing MSM living in rural areas, including finding access to health providers, stigma, and loneliness. Data collection for this project is ongoing.
